~ Tan Point ~
~~
"a^t", 'tan
points'
- This is primarily a solid
colored dog with tan (phaeomelanin) "points" above the eyes, inside the
ears, muzzle, chest, stomach and lower legs. The hue can range from a
pale biscuit to a rich ginger to a golden copper in color. In the Border
Collie which has the Irish spotting, along with tan points, this is
known as "tri" colored. The Irish spotting cancels out the appearance of
the tan point even though it is there. A tan pointed dog can be any
color except when an ee red is a tan point, you can't see it. You won't
know it's there unless both parents were tan pointed in which case all
the pups in the litter would be tan pointed including any ee reds.
Otherwise, you'll have to breed the dog to another dog that is tan pt.
or carries the recessive tan pt. gene. A merle can be tan pointed too.
